Nahanni National Park Reserve too small for wildlife--recent report

A July report by the Wildlife Conservation Society Canada supports CPAWS' campaign to expand Nahanni National Park Reserve--author Dr John Weaver finds the iconic national park is too small to maintain wide-ranging sensitive wildlife including grizzly bears, woodland caribou and Dall's sheep.

This fall, the federal government will be consulting Canadians about expanding Nahanni Park's boundaries. CPAWS, First Nations, scientists and many others support protecting the entire South Nahanni Watershed. Please make your voice heard.

Death by a Thousand Cuts--new report

An August report released by CPAWS and the Pembina Institute warns that projected development of Alberta's deep oil sands will drive many boreal wildlife species, including caribou, lynx, marten and some forest bird species to local extinction.

Protect Manitoba's Big Wild

CPAWS' cross country canoeist Jay Morrison ended the first half of his journey in Winnipeg, bringing a message to the province's legislature: Protect Manitoba's Big Wild--East side Lake Winnipeg.

New Parks Act

Ontario recently revised its new Parks Act for the first time in 50 years! CPAWS applauds the new protection for provincial parks and wilderness areas.
